Your days will include:


  • Assist in producing product prototypes in the lab/research kitchen in Winnipeg.
  • Measure and mix ingredients, trim and portion meat as per established formulas, processes and specifications.
  • Process and cook products per established specifications.
  • Record results of testing; times temperature, yields, weights, sensory evaluation etc. as required.
  • Ensure all products and ingredients are labelled and stored correctly and all equipment and surfaces are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Assisting in research and development at other facilities such as Neepawa plant, Prairie Research Kitchen, Food Development Centre in Portage.
  • Assist corporate chef as needed, to prepare, serve and clean up after special events.

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Grade 12 education required
  • Manitoba Food Handlers Certificate an asset
  • Degree in culinary arts an asset
  • Degree in Food Science an asset
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial kitchen experience required
  • Basic knife skills and food safety knowledge required
  • A good general knowledge of food products and preparation is required
  • Experience preparing Japanese food an asset
