Position Overview


The Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for providing internal expertise and support, including all reporting requirements, to ensure Porsche compliance with current and future Canadian and provincial motor vehicle and other related regulations.

These primarily include vehicle safety regulations, vehicle and fleet emission regulations, chemical management and material conformity regulations, product stewardship and recycling regulations.

The Regulatory Affairs Manager will coordinate on behalf of Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd.

(PCL) with Porsche AG (parent company), Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), Porsche Centres, government authorities, and local trade associations to represent the technical and policy interests of Porsche and ensure awareness of evolving future requirements.


Roles & Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitoring local regulatory changes including identifying, analyzing, interpreting, and deriving measures in coordination with Porsche AG.
  • Proactively participate and represent Porsche on relevant committees within the automotive trade association and coordinate feedback to and from PCL and PAG teams.
  • Lead and/or support the development and negotiation of proposals to help inform future regulations, contribute to the development of technical comments, and other briefings.
  • Produce, evaluate, and present key strategic regulatory summaries and options to PCL and PAG leadership related to fleet safety and emissions compliance with significant impact on current and future Canadian market operations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with PAG and other VW Group entity regulatory teams and other supporting functions including legal, certification, and development teams to assess the impact of regulations.
  • Support the analysis, presentation, and interpretation of regulations, including future compliance projections used for strategic planning.
  • Responsible for all PCL compliance reporting to various federal and provincial departments, in coordination with PAG and PCNA.
  • Coordinate to ensure crossfunctional support of ongoing topics related to vehicle certification, emissions & safety defect reporting, recalls & campaigns, and other various technical projects.
  • Collaborate with internal Business Units; Marketing, Finance, Vehicle Logistics, Customs, Sales Operations, Product Quality, Legal & Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless phasein of new regulations and compliance processes.
  • Support the execution and development of regulatory affairs processes between PCL, PCNA, PAG, and other VW Group entities, including internal management systems.
  • Support the development of a regulatory knowledge database and best practices.

Supervision:

  • The Regulator Affairs Manager will report to the Sr. Manager, External Affairs & Customer Relations, as part of PCL's Aftersales department.

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, legal studies, or related business field

Experience:


  • 5+ years of applicable work experience within the automotive (or related) sector
  • Regulatory experience, including knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes
  • Experience working at or with government agencies

Skills:


  • Fluent in English and French language
  • Assimilating and interpreting legislative and regulatory texts
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory landscape
  • Experience with fuels and alternative powertrains, including electric vehicle technology
  • Technical background in vehicles emissions and environmental topics including air quality, greenhouse gases, fuel economy technologies, etc.
  • Knowledge of vehicle certification (safety and emissions)
  • Knowledge of safety and emission testing and measurement procedures

Competencies:

  • Able to efficiently communicate ideas and simplify complex technical topics through interpersonal, presentation, and written correspondence and across varied audiences
  • Strong command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
