Position Summary


The Indian Ocean World Centre (IOWC) at McGill University seeks one (1) part-time undergraduate research assistant (RA) whose primary responsibility will be to facilitate the IOWC's research activities and events, including through collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualisation of data from historical and climatological sources.

The RA's work will contribute to the development of a bespoke database on human-environment interaction in the Indian Ocean World, past and present, and to the dissemination of the centre's research.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with historical sources and methods and/or experience working with digital databases would be an asset.

We expect undergraduate students with a demonstrated interest in history, geography, and/or computer programing to be particularly interested in this posting, though we are by no means limiting our search to students in those fields.

Bi-/Multilingualism would be advantageous. Applicants with ability to read traditional Chinese will be prioritized. Successful applicants will receive all further necessary training at the commencement of their work.
