Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking an
Operating Technician, Fibreline to work out of our mill site near the
Athabasca, Alberta area.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all Fibreline equipment, including pressure equipment and piping, as well as overseeing environmental compliance and quality/quantity of production.
  • Continuously monitor the operation of complex processes through the panel and adjust variables to achieve the best possible outcome in terms of pulp quality and production goals.
  • Starting up and shutting down the Fibreline processes as required.
  • Daily equipment checks as well as performing daily, weekly and month checklists.
  • Collect pulp, liquor and filtrate samples and analyze in the lab.
  • Operating a Forklift to facilitate chemical tote placement and/or stage equipment as requested.
  • Set up, receive and unload chemicals from truck delivery or CN rail cars.
  • Write work permits and direct maintenance work to be performed.
  • Lock out equipment for maintenance.
  • General clean up duties and housekeeping.
  • Assist in troubleshooting Fibreline process and equipment.
  • Understand all safety requirements for each specific process area.
  • Identify any maintenance requirements and put in malfunction reports as required.

Role Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Considered an asset:
  • Experience in a pulp mill environment.
  • Pulp and Paper Technologist.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be a critical thinker, analyzing situations and using logic to address issues.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and basic knowledge of root cause analysis.
  • Mechanical aptitude beneficial for problem solving field issues
  • Desire to learn new areas and experience new challenges.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Selfmotivated to be a continuous learner of procedures and processes with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Other:


  • This is a shift work position rotating between day and night shifts.
  • General physical activities include climbing, lifting, handling materials, unplugging chip conveyors, pulp lines or equipment, turning valves, using wash up hoses and small tools.
  • Competency will be demonstrated in five field positions and then move to demonstrate competency in two panel roles that operate the Fibreline Process.
  • Required to obtain a Pulp & Paper Technologist Certificate prior to training on the panel roles.
