Responsibilities:

Lethbridge College is seeking a Social Media Coordinator.

Ideally the incumbent is a recent graduate from Digital Communications and Media (DCM), Multimedia Production, Business Administration, Marketing from Lethbridge College or another post-secondary institution.

This is a one year contract position.


Reporting to the Social Media Strategist, the Social Media Coordinator is focused on planning, creation, management and analysis of content for social media channels to align with institutional social media strategy - specifically maximizing student engagement and growth of social channels, conversion and retention as well as overall reputation building of Lethbridge College.


This role shares responsibility in managing official social media accounts, creating content that is relevant to future students and implementing strategies that grow, engage, retain, and ultimately, generate leads.

Additionally, the Social Media Coordinator works closely with the Social Media Strategist and other Marketing and Communications team members to develop and deploy engagement to increase website traffic, convert that traffic into qualified leads, and help nurture those prospects into Lethbridge College applicants.

Job Duties


Marketing:

  • Plays lead role in curating and creating engaging content optimized for social media that positively and accurately projects Lethbridge College's brand voice in Lethbridge College's social media presence including, but not limited to, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Supports the Social Media Strategist in researching new platforms and social media trends.
  • Works with the Social Media Strategist to execute and continually adapt/adjust the social media marketing strategy.
  • Listens and engages in relevant social discussion about Lethbridge College and postsecondary education sector.
  • Continually seeks professional development opportunities to remain abreast of the latest releases and launches of new features across social and inbound channels.

Content Creation and Implementation:

  • Helps to create and manage a rich content/editorial calendar that attracts a qualified audience to our owned properties.
Required Qualifications

This position requires a combination of time-management and project-management skills,


as each social media platform has unique audiences and uses, and demonstrating student life at Lethbridge College is also varied and diverse.

In particular, there are many events of special importance to students, such as New Student Orientation, open houses and Convocation, that require significant coordination and support.


This position needs to be current on social media trends and also have a thorough understanding of which social media platforms are relevant to respective audiences (e.g., students, prospective students, international students, parents, government and industry).

Additionally, the position needs to be familiar with the features and benefits of each social media platform, utilizing the tools in the most engaging, informative and entertaining manner to encourage sharing and following of Lethbridge College accounts.


Examples may include:

  • Writing, recording, developing and sharing original and engaging content.
  • Capturing and sharing content of interest to multiple audiences.
