Brockton School is currently seeking a Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator to help us in our mission to inspire the growth of outstanding humans.


POSITION OVERVIEW


He/she will, with the Associate Coordinator, support onboarding of new teachers with IB learning needs, lead planning programme meetings, budget for professional development, support the departments with vetting IB resources and with forward and backward planning that incorporates approaches to teaching approaches to learning, student agency, and community engagement/service.


The PYP Coordinator will regularly meet and record meetings with teachers as needed, meet weekly with the IB Continuum Director and Principal of the Junior School, respectively, and as needed with all coordinators and department chairs to support strategic and continuum planning.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES


Model the traits of a collaborative and self-motivated leader, encourage a culture of compassion, trust, and kindness in support of the IB Learner Profile, be open and willing to receive constructive feedback, and support the Brockton mission, vision, strategic plan, and priorities.


Ensure that pedagogical aspects and policies are discussed collaboratively, refined, consistent, and cohesive, information is disseminated (students, parents, teachers), and the programme is planned, delivered, and assessed according to IB requirements.

Serve as a role model to encourage excellence in teaching practices and continuous professional growth

Develop and foster positive, trusting, and professional relationships with colleagues

Support work and leadership with IB, CAIS, and Ministry Evaluations

Attend regular meetings with Continuum Director, Programme Coordinators, and or Department Chairs to discuss actions, areas of strength and growth, and support innovation

Support data collection (FSAs, and use data from classroom observations, planning documentation, and the IB self-study and evaluation feedback to establish yearly areas of focus/ priorities to design programme development plans and or action plans.

Collaborate and support teachers within the IB programme to ensure that curriculum development and planning has vertical and horizontal alignment, backwards design, and support diverse learners

Facilitate ongoing, timely, supportive feedback and reflection. Offer opportunities for professional dialogue within the meeting

Adhere to school timelines for all things; role model time management to colleagues and support them in meeting deadlines (for report cards, for IB evaluations, planner completion, etc)
