Position Summary


The Elders Mobility Program Coordinator is a role model for health and wellness, who is passionate about helping elders to pursue overall improvements in health through engagement in activity.

This position will design, instruct, schedule and coordinate recreation programming for the Elders.

Working closely with the Elders Day Program Coordinator, the Mobility Coordinator will implement impactful mobility programs that will engage elders, in all our partner communities, to participate in activities that benefit their mobility and social interactions.

What you'll do

  • Maintain budget, and order equipment as needed.
  • Prepare promotional materials for distribution, enhancing program awareness.
  • Provide program updates for advertisements in Elders Newsletter and elsewhere as indicated.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for self and clients.
  • When transporting passengers assists passengers to enter/exit vehicle as needed, loads passengers' assistive devices to maintain passenger safety.
  • Record progress with visual and written documentation, keep records of attendees, document successes and barriers to participation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate recreational activities, coaching elders to be able to perform activities autonomously.
  • Facilitate swimming programs, walking and other low impact activities.
  • Communicate with Elders offering suggestions to enhance workouts, or increase/enhance current level of activity/recreation.
  • Prepare monthly reports with photos included maintain files/records.
  • Schedule one on one and followup appointments with elders.
  • Work with the Elders Coordinators/CHRs to connect with elders that are home bound or disabled and ensure they can participate in Health and Wellness activities.
  • Act as liaison between recreation activities and interdisciplinary team to determine the best course of action for client outcome. (e.g., Physiotherapist, nursing team, referrals as necessary)
  • Develop presentations for recreational activities that can be used at home or through virtual meetings.
  • Clean and maintain a tidy, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Follow, adhere to and assist with the development of rules, staff requirements and list of duties.
  • Offer creative ideas to the Director or the Health Services Program Manager to constantly monitor and improve recreational programming.
  • Participate in community activities and functions related to Health and Wellness.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council.

What you bring

Education

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Diploma in Recreation Service Delivery or related field an asset

Skills/Experience

  • 2 years in related field an asset
  • Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds; ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.
