    BOOKKEEPER

    Applications for the position of Bookkeeper will be received by the Clerk-Treasurer of the Township of McGarry, Karine Pelletier, until 3:00 p.m.

    on Friday April 12, 2024, at the Township of McGarry, 27 Webster Street, P.O. Box 99, Virginiatown, Ontario, P0K 1X0.

    Requirements: Education:
    Successful completion of College or University in Accounting and Finance.

    Experience: Five years work experience in a setting with computerized and manual bookkeeping preferably in a Municipal setting.

    Language: Speak, read, and write English. French an asset.

    Specific Skills: Payroll, including preparation of records of employment and yearly T4s, maintaining employee records for sick leave and vacation; accounts payable and receivable, preparation of quarterly tax bills and oversee the collection of same; monthly bank reconciliation, cash control; prepare monthly reports and remit to Revenue Canada, WSIB, OMERS, Province of Ontario; maintain General Ledger, prepare and post journal entries; prepare year end closing entries; answer auditors' questions and prepare requested documentation; maintain other financial records as required; responsible for asset management plan, prepare various reports for Council and Staff, responsible for the application and reporting of grants, help the Clerk-Typist Receptionist when required, work with Township computer software supplier and be familiar with other software required for the job such as Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel) ; assist the Clerk-Treasurer as required, etc.

    Other Skills: Ability to work with public, government officials and agencies, members of staff, lawyers, real estate agents; problem solving; job planning, good communication skills, attention to details, organization skills ability to work in fast past environment while following directions and have excellent interpersonal skills.
