PART-TIME, CONTRACT POSITION

WHO WE ARE

Centennial Infant and Child Centre ("CICC") is a non-profit organization in Toronto that supports infants and children with developmental and/or physical disabilities, or with risk of delays. CICC staff provide individually designed programs and services for children aged 0 - 5 years old and their families. CICC's programs include an in-home _Early Intervention Program_, an on-site specialized _Preschool, _and Toronto Children's Services' _Every Child Belongs ("ECB") _

  • Resource Consultation Program_.


The _Early Intervention Program _is a home-visiting service that supports families with children aged 0 - daycare or kindergarten entry who have delays or risk of delays in two or more areas of development.

The program enables and empowers parents/caregivers to confidently care for, monitor, and encourage their child(ren)'s growth and development, with the goal of optimizing developmental outcomes.


WHO WE WANT


CICC is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and culturally respectful doer with a positive attitude to fill the position of _Early Childhood Interventionist_ ("ECI").

The role of the Early Childhood

Interventionist ("ECI") is to provide in-home support to a caseload of infants, children and their families throughout the city of Toronto.

Fundamental to this work is an excellent understanding of typical and atypical infant and child development, as well as knowledge of available services and resources in the community.

Developmental screening, assessment, family service planning, and parent coaching skills are central aspects of the role. Consultation with multi
- disciplinary professionals at CICC and in the community is an integral part of the ECI job. A car and valid Ontario Driver's Licence are necessary for efficient daily travel to families' homes throughout Toronto.


Job Type:
Part-Time, 2 days/week, 7.5 hours/day, year-round

Term: 3-year contract, with possibility of extension

Location:
In-person in clients' homes. Otherwise, primarily remote.
Expectation of onsite presence at CICC at regular intervals.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Reporting to the _Manager, Infant and Child Development (ICD) Community Programs_, the Early

Childhood Interventionist performs the following duties:

  • Visit families in their homes to help them understand and regularly monitor their infant/child's development.
  • Maintain proper documentation of client interactions, and interactions with other health/social service professionals in the community.
  • Support parents/caregivers with areas of concern they have about their infant/child's development.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/caregivers to create a Family Service Plan that establishes and reviews goals for their infant/child in each area of development.
  • Communicate sensitively and respectfully with families.
  • Assess and monitor the infant/child's development using informal and formal screening tools.
  • Provide parents with recommendations for encouraging their infant/child's development between home visits.
  • Encourage and support the growth of parental/caregiver confidence and advocacy skills.
  • Provide resources and make appropriate referrals to community health professionals for additional services specific to an individual infant/child.
  • Help families plan their child(ren)'s transition into daycare, school, or other programs.
  • Liaise/coordinate with other health/social service professionals involved in the family's circle of care (e.g., Physical Therapists, Public Health Nurses, Social Workers, Children's
Aid Workers, Speech Language Pathologists, Vision and Hearing Specialists, hospital follow-up clinics, etc.).

  • Participate in professional development opportunities as they become available.
  • Ensure service activity data is logged and up to date in CICC's client information system.
  • Keep client records secure, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act ("PHIPA").
  • Provide Early Intervention service according to Ministry of Children, Community, and
Social Services ("MCCSS") ICDP Guidelines.

Additionally, as a member of the CICC team, Early Childhood Interventionist:

  • attends and participates in CICC staff meetings every two weeks, and acts as ambassador for CICC in the community.
- periodically shares learnings and relevant resources from the broader community with the CICC team.
- participates in internal committees as well as larger community outreach and advocacy initiatives (e.g., Play Group Committee, Newsletter Committee, Shelter Committee,

Paperwork Committee, H2H etc.)


Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 36 months

Part-time hours: 15 per week


Salary:
$20,000.00-$22,000.00 per year
