Job Summary:
To underwrite within the Property Risks division and provide counsel and advice on underwriting related issues. Provide technical expertise in this business area and maintain and improve market reputation of the Beazley brand.

Beazley is currently seeking an Underwriter to support our Commercial Property team in Canada. This role is primarily responsible for underwriting large commercial property business

Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

Underwriting

  • Underwrite new and renewal commercial property business
  • Structure tailormade solutions within the team underwriting parameters
  • Evaluate appropriate risk, reinsurance cessions, and capital exposure to ensure profitability
  • Comply with Beazley's underwriting control standards
  • Maintain strong knowledge of market trends and competitor behaviors
  • Operate as a senior member of the team, providing internal support and handling key broker relationships.

Client Management

  • Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk matters
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and brokers
  • Maintain awareness of overall Beazley product range and take advantage of opportunities to introduce other Beazley products to clients

General

  • Develop best practice and disseminate business and class knowledge within the Property Risks team and across the company
  • Collaborate with peers within the department to maximize business opportunities and profitability
  • Work with operations, IT, and product support to drive operational efficiency
  • Assist in business planning and strategy as required
  • Business travel as required

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

  • University Degree or diploma within a related discipline
  • Completed or working towards Insurance designation(s) considered to be an asset

  • Proficient underwriting skills
  • Experience with Catastrophe management
