SUMMARY:


The Royal Canadian Yacht Club is a world class yacht club with a mandate to promote excellence in competitive sailing and sports. Located in a unique atmosphere on the Toronto Islands; the Club consists of an active, welcoming community of sailors, like-minded individuals and staff who share an interest in sport and tradition. RCYC is currently ranked as one of the top 50 Yacht Clubs in the world and we firmly believe that much of our continued success is determined by our staff. The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto at St George and Bloor

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The Marine Yard Labourer is a seasonal position working in the Marine Services department. This individual will work predominantly outside around boats and water. This individual will be operating and/or assisting the operations of boat handling equipment both on and off the water by preparing boats for haul out and launches.

SKILLS / JOB KNOWLEDGE:


  • Assist with travel lift, forklift, and marine trailer operations
  • Assist with boat relocation on water
  • Paint boat bottoms
  • Basic carpentry work such as minor dock repairs
  • Material handling
  • Winter tarp installation and removal
  • Clean up and organization of the shop and grounds
  • Other tasks as assigned by departmental Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-Secondary education or 2 years of equivalent work experience:

Work well under pressure:

Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision as well as work effectively in a team:

Excellent verbal communication skills:

Forklift experience an asset:

Small boat operators license preferred:

Must have the ability to swim

Experience in marina type operation an asset but will be trained to Club operation

HOURS OF WORK:

This is a seasonal part-time position (March to October):

Must be able to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays
as well as various shifts
(days & evenings):

Able to work at the Island facility - launch at 150 Cherry St:
