What You'll Do:
  • Manage and coordinate the procurement planning process to match supply & demand forecasts, inventory management goals, and on time delivery.
  • Maintain a familiarity of the supply markets for raw material purchasing and identifying the factors which influence availability and pricing, ensuring that significant market changes are anticipated, managed, and communicated.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and communicating long term sourcing strategies to support the business unit's longterm vision and objectives.
  • Develop new vendors and products based on the evolving supply environment and changing requirements of our customers.
  • Ultimately owns reliability, financial, procurement, productivity, environmental and other site stewardship responsibilities.
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with supplier's key personnel involved in or directly relevant to purchasing activities.
  • Collaborate with sales leaders, production staff, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, and to clarify management objectives.
  • Ensure that business and individual goal setting processes such as capital plans, expense budgets, safety strategic plans and performance management plans are developed and executed with excellence.**
    Key Relationships

The Procurement Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager of our Pre-finished Wood Products operation (PWP) and have a Fulfillment Specialist who is responsible for managing day-to-day activities, reporting to them.


Location

You will be based out of our Surrey operation.**
At a high level:The primary responsibility of the Procurement Manager is to connect buying to selling, by understanding customer needs / market expectations, and aligning supply to production for our pre-finishing business.

As a key member of the leadership team responsible for setting strategy, this leader owns:

purchasing of products and services, managing supplier/vendor relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for suppliers and our sales team, ensuring on time delivery of products, as well as developing and negotiating with suppliers (including pricing, quality, delivery, payment terms).


  • Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensures timely delivery of all materials and services.
  • Negotiating cost reductions, implementing supplier contracts, coordinating cost opportunities/improvements.
  • Planning and execution of sourcing plan to support plant floor execution of the order file and balance of inventory.
  • Maintain relationships with all vendors and potential vendors to enhance opportunistic and spot buy opportunities.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in engineering, procurement, business management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role, with an inventory management, supply chain and/or procurement background within lumber/ wood manufacturing industry.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills including the ability to synthesize information.
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • MS Excel fluency is a requirement.
  • SAP experience is preferred.**
