    Director (Technical), Merger Integration Architecture and Engineering

    WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

    As the Director of Merger Integration Architecture and Engineering at RBC, the incumbent will encompass orchestrating the seamless integration of technology systems, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and optimizing value capture. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams, navigate complex matrix structures, and drive change, all while fostering a collaborative culture. By blending technical expertise with leadership acumen, the incumbent will position the newly formed entity for sustained growth and performance, enhancing M&A capacity for future deals. In addition, the incumbent will augment the integration planning and strategy function by rendering presentation materials for executive audiences.

    The incumbent will work within the scope of CGCS Corporate Systems with the scope of trade compliance, know-your-employee, governance, and corporate security domains during the transformation initiatives with RBC City National Bank and RBC Brewin Dolphin.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    • Provide guidance and mentoring to technical teams on integration architecture best practices. Inspect development work and conduct technical assessments and evaluations to identify integration requirements and opportunities. Lead and facilitate the creation of architectural principles for future mergers and acquisitions. Develop and maintain integration design documentation and technical specifications.
    • Oversee the seamless integration of technology systems. Design and implement architecture and engineering solutions that harmonize existing systems, optimize processes, and enhance efficiency. Develop and maintain integration architecture patterns, policies, and best practices specific to the requirements of RBC Corporate Systems.
    • Collaborate with the steering committee to understand and communicate the rationale, define the integration approach, and align roles. Ensure strategic alignment with performance goals and value capture while safeguarding the base business from risks.
    • Select NewCo leaders, foster a collaborative culture, and steer larger, newly integrated teams. Facilitate effective collaboration among colleagues who are adjusting to their new roles.
    • Identify and mitigate integration risks. Safeguard data integrity, cybersecurity, and operational continuity during the transition. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Define priority cultural integration themes. Foster a cohesive organizational culture by bridging legacy practices, values, and behaviors. Encourage a unified approach that drives value creation in the merged entity.

    WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

    Must have:

    • Advanced competency with enterprise architecture, systems architecture, integration architecture, and data architecture. Advanced ability with the translation of business strategies into implementable roadmaps.
    • Intermediate competency with business capability modelling and ratifying business architecture.
    • Competency with project management, budget planning and drafting statements of work.
    • Strong ability to render professional-grade PowerPoint and architecture views.
    • Strong ability to assimilate information from multiple sources and drive clarity as required.

    Nice-to-have:

    • Knowledge of RBC technology standards, frameworks, and best practices.
    • Intermediate competency in several programming languages (Python, Java or Spark).
    • Proven people management experience with multiple direct reports and many indirect reports. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Ability to handle situations with reasonableness and integrity.
    • University Degree in Computer Science or Engineering from a credible institution.
