About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Temporary Full-Time Student (Systems Analyst) to join our dynamic
IT Internal Customer Experience team.


The
IT Internal Customer Experience team is responsible for ensuring a positive and seamless experience for internal users within Canadian Blood Services who interact with IT services and systems.


In this role, you will participate in the management, planning and preparation of technical environments and infrastructure to support software release projects and other technical initiatives.

You will be responsible for management of the Training Environment and for coordinating associated system lifecycle management activities including software installation, configuration, data seeding, testing and documentation according to defined life-cycle management practices.


Formula for success

  • Drawing on your collaboration abilities, you will participate with OS business analysts, programmer/analysts, IT Services and OS customers on new system development initiatives. You will collaborate with team members and other key stakeholders to plan, perform, and execute software lifecycle management activities.
  • Utilizing your skills, you will assist in determining compatibility of new programs and/or vendor packages with existing systems.
  • Drawing on your knowledge and education, you will work with the team to develop and execute software testing and validation activities, including test script development, test execution and documentation. You will also test all changes and update documentation accordingly.
  • Leveraging your cognitive abilities, you will understand and comply with Canadian Blood Services IT, quality, and regulatory standards.

Desired skills and education

  • Enrolled in Post-Secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a related computer science degree in database management systems, operating systems, and/or networks.
  • Working level experience or strong understanding of:
  • Development in Java, Groovy, Python, Scripting in Bash & PowerShell
  • RESTful Web Services & Consuming API Endpoints
  • Source Code Management (Git)
  • Agile Software Development / DevOps Methodologies
  • Understanding of Operating Systems (Linux, Windows) and Networking Administration
  • Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and propose solutions
  • Desire to be challenged, able to adapt quickly, and learn new technologies
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
  • Capable of working independently and within a team
  • Proven ability to learn in a fastpaced, dynamic, and challenging environment

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa Lancaster Rd, quarterly for inperson team meetings when required.
