ROLE SUMMARY
The Construction QC Surveyor plays an integral role in construction quality, supporting multiple projects in conducting Quality Control / Verification of all critical subtrade work, coordination of 3rd party legal surveyors, integration of points from 3D models, construction layout, & survey as-builts.
This role reports directly to General Superintendent and is in frequent communication with key stakeholders such as the Project Superintendent(s).
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Field (Site)
- Acquire site survey points and benchmarks from 3rd party legal survey company, and provide to applicable subtrades
- Provide quality control by checking for accuracy at all control points, benchmarks, gridlines, and subtrade work
- Maintain survey points including elevations for accuracy throughout project duration
- Provide layout and additional construction points required by superintendent
- Perform field verification of subcontract layouts, asbuilts and other measurements to assist with quality assurance function
- Provide reports to assist quality program
- Ensure all equipment is calibrated and maintained as per equipment standards.
- Report any discrepancies between the drawings to site management.
- Perform pre pour checks to ensure all necessary wall dowels, anchor bolts, embeds, openings etc. Are complete prior to pour.
Management (Office)
- Assist in planning with 3rd party legal survey companies, superintendents in project site setup
- Utilize CADbased & total station software to integrate multiple drawing files from different sources to develop control points, layout and subcontract verification as required by project
- Assist project team in developing means, methods, and procedures for conducting field survey
- Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, drawings, survey reports to project team.
- Assist with SBW's Quality Program.
- Maintain a document control of all info/drawings used for future reference.
- Mentor and teach.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proficient using GPS & Robotic total station survey instruments (ie. Trimble, Hilti)
- Proficient in CAD based program (ie. BricsCad, AutoCad)
- Extensive experience doing construction layout for at least one trade considered a major asset
- Ability to use and adapt to the latest survey equipment and software
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Strong aptitude in mathematics and spatial awareness
- Understand how to read drawings, lines and grades.(all disciplines such as Architectural and Structural)
- Valid driver's license and clean abstract.
- A positive team player and ability to work in teams or individually.
- Demonstrate organizational and communication skills.
- Previous commercial construction experience.
Educational Background
- Previous field survey experience as a junior surveyor or survey assistant
- Postsecondary education in Geomatics or engineering would be considered an asset but not required
Job Types:

$90,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
