Human Resources, Payroll and HRIS Administrator (Hybrid work model)

About the role

Reporting to the Director, the Human Resources, Payroll and HRIS Administrator supports the administration of the policies, procedures, employee relations activities and programs, and processing payroll in compliance with applicable legislations and company policies.

What you'll be doing

HR Administration

  • Coordinating and administering the processing of new hire/rehire/reactivation commencements, terminations, transfers, promotions, reclassifications and salary changes, corrections, increases and adjustments utilizing the HRIS system.
  • Scheduling and communicating onboarding training process for new hires or returned employees; providing training to new hires or returned employees on HRIS system and payroll.
  • Administering Group Health benefits and RRSP benefits including new enrollments, updates, and termination of benefits.
  • Supporting HR department activities, such as but not limited to organising lunch and learn sessions, staff development and staff appreciation days, interview scheduling, development of new and existing benefits and total rewards initiatives, policies and procedures, etc.
Payroll Administration

  • Processing the fullcycle semimonthly payroll in a timely and accurate manner; reviewing the payroll register, reconciling payroll accounts, and preparing payroll accounting journal entries.
  • Performing other nonroutine payroll duties such as issuing record of employments, compiling yearend requirements, including processing and reporting for T4, WCB, WSIB, Health & Education Tax Levy and submitting government filings in a timely manner.
  • Dealing with general inquiries, questions, and concerns from employees regarding payroll; research and resolve problems.
HRIS Administration

  • Optimizing the design, development, and improving performance of the HRIS system and processes.
  • Assisting with rollout strategy and execution of system changes (updates, integrations, new configurations), and participate in all aspects of system testing and conducting regular audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Investigating data errors and correcting them as appropriate to ensure accuracy.

  • Resourceful, problemsolving aptitude and thorough working knowledge of Canadian Payroll Legislation.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the Canadian Payroll Association and prior experience with Ceridian Dayforce HRIS would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of current employment legislations combined with minimum of two (2) years of working experience in an HR role preferred.
  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources or related discipline is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of payroll experience utilizing the HRIS system. Multiprovincial payroll processing experience will be an asset.
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook; MS Office
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
