    JOB TITLE EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR

    NATIONAL OCCUPATION CODE 41321

    POSITION TYPE TERM (Jan – Apr 2024), FULL-TIME, 37.5 HOURS/WEEK

    Position Description: Reporting to the Director of Community Development, the Employment Facilitator will support participants to build their skills, access training and to secure meaningful employment through education and coaching. In keeping with the WCWRC philosophy this program will accomplish this goal working through an empowerment approach.

    Responsibilities

    Employment Facilitator

  • Manage intake assessments and appointment scheduling.
  • Provide participant-led one-on-one coaching and support to community in pursuing their employment and economic goals through career planning, goal setting, resume and cover letter development, job search, interview skills, and training referrals.
  • Address barriers to employment for participants, through casework, additional support, or appropriate referrals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employment workshops and hiring events that are relevant to the community being served.
  • Screen participants for eligible jobs and provide ongoing wrap-around supports to ensure the transition into the workforce is successful.
  • Work in collaboration with Employment Coordinator and other Employment Facilitator to screen and identify potential candidates for training programs.

  • Partner and network to promote programs and services; to develop and maintain relationships with businesses and other agencies; to obtain and share knowledge about employment and training opportunities.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Essential:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and community engagement skills; able to build relationships with participants who have diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to adapt to different audiences and work across languages barriers.
  • Experience with facilitation, coaching and mentorship.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to self-manage to achieve priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • Willingness to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks.
  • Preferred:

  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with employers and community agencies will be considered an asset.
  • Prior experience with employment coaching and supporting participants to attain job opportunities considered an asset.
  • Experience working within the non-profit sector.
  • Experience working collaboratively with community organizations.
  • Strong understanding of empowerment philosophies.
  • Understanding of Community Economic Development concepts.
