We're currently recruiting for a full-time permanent position of Building Enclosure Technical Advisor.


POSITION OVERVIEW


Working in close collaboration and reporting to the Income-based Programs Lead, and under the functional direction of the Energy Efficiency Assistance Program Specialist, this position supports the technical direction, delivery, and review of the building envelope portion of the Energy Efficiency Assistance Program and Métis Energy Efficiency Offers.

The Building Enclosure Technical Advisor is responsible for continuously reviewing and maintaining technical guidelines related to the programs, and for maintaining program quality control process to ensure maximum energy savings results from successful retrofits.

A key responsibility of this role is to liaise with industry contacts, particularly insulation contractors and energy advisors. Additionally, the Building Enclosure Technical Advisor must provide building envelope technical support to community groups and community partners.

Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with trade allies and special groups such as low-to-moderate income community organizations, is essential for this position.


The Building Enclosure Technical Advisor will demonstrate extensive communication, analytical, and organizational skills combined with expertise pertaining to energy efficient technologies.


The current program assignment for this position includes a focus on a suite of Income-Based sector initiatives including incentive-based programs and enabling strategies.

To meet the evolving needs of Efficiency Manitoba and our customers, program assignments associated with this position may change over time.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the building envelope technical components of the Income-Based Programs, including insulation, air sealing, and other residential weatherization program opportunities that may arise.
  • Deliver customer workshops, customer and industry training, and training to community groups allies to promote participation in Efficiency Manitoba programs.
  • Cultivate and maintain external and internal relationships including insulation contractors, energy advisors, community groups, and trade allies.
  • Work with energy advisors and contractors to develop retrofit work orders and specifications, review contractor quotes and inspect completed work based on defined program guidelines.
  • Collaborate with technical advisors, engineers, and industry organizations to continuously evaluate and review building envelope technologies and guidelines to ensure they effectively support lowtomoderate income housing stock, and to develop and maintain a quality control system accordingly.
  • Handle and respond to customer inquiries pertaining to technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions to enhance customer satisfaction and support smooth program delivery.
  • Perform site visits on an asneeded basis.
  • Provide residential building envelope technical review and guidance as required to support a variety energy efficiency programs.
  • Maintain and enhance building enclosure technical knowledge through educational development.
  • Work with Efficiency Manitoba's procurement function to support procurement activities and management of contracted services needed to support program objectives.
  • May be required to travel and/or attend meetings outside of normal working hours.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • A diploma or similarly appropriate formal training from a recognized college in the field of Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or Mechanical Engineering Technology with minimum of four (4) years related experience.
OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Successful completion of the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Foundation Level and Energy Advisor (House) Exams is a definite asset.
  • Strong understanding of building envelope technologies, and ability to develop and maintain technical retrofit guidelines to provide maximum energy savings and quality control.
  • Residential construction experience and a demonstrated technical ability for onsite energy related problem solving.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and National Building Codes.
  • A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for customer service and energy conservation.
