    Your opportunity:

    The University College Advancement Office oversees all fundraising, donor relations, stewardship and alumni relations activities at University College. As the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts, you will be responsible for major gift fundraising,including identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors at the major gift level. You will also contribute to the donor engagement strategy and ensure proper stewardship to maintain the donor's involvement, interest and support.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
    • Developing tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiatives
    • Identifying, evaluating and recommending the necessary steps to bring the prospect closer to making a major financial commitment to the University
    • Conducting advanced research and analysis from a variety of sources to provide detailed background data on donors
    • Cultivating and soliciting current and prospective major gift donors through tailored stewardship programs
    • Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
    • Drafting donor acknowledgment and recognition communications
    • Writing briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interaction

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience, preferably with courses and/or programs completed in fundraising
    • Minimum five (5) years experience in a senior fundraising role with a proven track record of success
    • Demonstrated major gift development experience (gifts of $25,000 and above)
    • Strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills, initiative, diplomacy and sensitivity to individual view points and issues
    • Keen attention to detail and creativity
    • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills; superior verbal and written communication skills
    • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and all its applications
    • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of tasks; ability to frequently adjust priorities
    • Solid analytical and proof reading abilities
    • Able to work in a team based, results-oriented environment


    Assets (Nonessential):

    • Knowledge of the University's ARBOR database and/or Microsoft CRM and/or Raiser's Edge
