As a
Behaviour Support Worker for our
Special Needs program in Richmond, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs in a respite home setting.

The line is
Saturday-Tuesday, 3pm-11pm shifts.**
Qualifications:
  • Post
  • secondary education in related field and/or equivalent experience working with youth with ASD and other special needs
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children/youth with ASD and other behavioural challenges
  • Must be comfortable assisting clients with hygiene support
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Effective deescalation and crisis management skills
  • Ability to follow behavioural support plans
  • BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check (takes up to 6 weeks to process so please plan accordingly)
  • Proof of COVID19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority

A sample of what you'll be doing:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
  • Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
  • Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
  • Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
  • Driving clients to and from school, appointments, outings as needed
  • Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
  • Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, and assisting clients with personal care as needed
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans

Salary:
$22.70-$24.00/hour plus benefits
