Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Administration and responsible for advising the University Executive and Board on all information technology matters, the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer (AVP&CIO) leads and is accountable for Carleton's technology strategy and roadmap, enterprise architecture, data and information management, IT security and compliance.

The AVP&CIO supports partnerships, policies and governance structures that translate the needs of a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders into enhanced, digitally enabled user experiences and services.

The AVP&CIO will participate in overall business strategy and planning, is responsible for overseeing major technological initiatives, managing technology standards and systems and for providing products and services that enhance and support the University's academic, research, and administrative goals to advance a digital culture across the Carleton community.

With a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, the AVP&CIO will provide a strong focus on innovation, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, change management, organizational effectiveness, and financial management.

Providing leadership to a team of 100+ Information Technology Services (ITS) management and unionized staff, the AVP&CIO will help develop the units capacity to sustain digitally enabled, service oriented, growth.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science or other related discipline anda minimum of ten years of previous experience in progressive leadership roles.
