About the Position


Reporting to the Senior Leasing Manager, this role would play a key role in all leasing activities in a portfolio which currently consists of 20+ retail properties totaling 2.8M sf.

The portfolio will grow to include other property types, such as residential, office, and industrial. Job functions are primarily in-office, Monday-Friday, and may require occasional travel (for property visits and prospect tours).


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of the retail leasing vision and developing the leasing strategy.
  • Identify, source and secure new regional, national, and international retail tenants, and work with existing tenants to satisfy expansion/renewal requirements.
  • Cold calling to source new tenants is paramount to this role
  • Negotiate deal terms with tenants and follow up on the execution of final documentation.
  • Prepare and submit monthly leasing update reports for Senior Management and business partners
  • Foster and maintain positive tenant relations through site visits, tenant meetings, correspondence, and by being accessible and providing timely and effective service and response to enquiries and requests.
  • Prepare leasing assumptions as part of the annual budget preparation process.
  • Direct Legal to prepare appropriate documents, review and deliver documents to Tenant;
  • Confer with Property Manager and Construction Manager on property issues and recommend improvements to properties, as required.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in Commercial Retail Leasing as a Landlord Representative or Real Estate Salesperson or Broker.
  • Basic understanding of commercial leasing, merchandising, and tenant needs.
  • Post secondary education is preferred
  • Must possess an active real estate license in the Province of Ontario (RECO)
  • A proven track record of completing transactions with a wide variety of tenant types and sizes
  • Connections and familiarity with key contacts throughout the commercial brokerage community and at retail tenants
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel/Word/Power Point)
  • Must possess valid driver's license

Bonus Skills and Experience

  • Experience using Yardi (Voyager and/or Breeze)
  • Understanding of and previous experience working in multiple markets across Canada

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills along with high degree of professionalism and drive for success
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision makers
  • Ability to quickly learn about various real estate nodes across Canada
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, in a fastpaced environment, managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Excellent at planning and organizing
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
