TECHNICIAN, DEVELOPMENT APPROVALS

Temporary, March September 2024 ($33.76/hour rate)
The incumbent is responsible for the administration and coordination of the approval process related
to the installation of all utilities within the City's road allowances, and provides support services
related to utility location and the approval of residential, commercial and industrial development
standards.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and registered as a (or Eligible) Civil Engineering
Technician or Technologist in Ontario.

Municipal Engineering Association or Ontario Good Roads Association courses/certificates related
to the position such as road design, sewer design, stormwater management would be an asset.

One to two years experience in engineering design, construction and installation of utilities within
Municipal road allowances and related to subdivision and site plan development. Experience working
with the municipal sector and understanding of the municipal role in the review and approval of

conflict resolution and customer service skills.

In depth knowledge of current construction practices and methodologies and provincial, regional and
municipal standards.

Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans and utility plans.

Ability to work independently under minimum supervision.

Must be willing to be trained and certified in the Corporation's confined space entry procedure, Standard
First Aid, Basic Rescuer CPR-C and Working at Heights.

Must possess a valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's Licence and provide consent for ongoing Driver's
Abstract. A clean driving record is preferred.

Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position.

Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
