Yard Worker / Class 1 Driver


This position is critical to the accurate picking of orders, efficient flow of materials in and out of the facility and loading and unloading of delivery trucks.

Pride, care and organization of the yard is a direct reflection of our operations and critical to this role.

The yard must always be impeccably maintained for the safety of workers and for efficient mobility of vehicles / equipment on the premises.

While working in the yard, our operators take care of a multitude of tasks with and without the use of a forklift including the following:

  • Fill orders and prepare product for shipping to site
  • Prepare shipping documentation
  • Load truck with the appropriate orders and confirm all items are ready for timely delivery
  • Completion of commercial carrier requirements
  • Contact freight companies for freight costs if third party shipping is required
  • Manage logistics and documentation
  • Load and unload product
  • Place incoming product into inventory
  • Quality management of incoming product for damage and initiate freight claims
  • Participate in inventory counts
  • Always ensuring the efficiency and organization of the yard
  • Assist team members as needed.

Job Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse as a shipper / receiver is an asset
  • Valid Class 1 driver's licence and a means of reliable transportation, as there is no public transportation to the yard location
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Commercial carrier training
  • Reliability: show up for work punctually and fit for duty
  • Valid forklift operator certification and demonstrate competency / safe operation
  • Physically fit and capable of heavy manual labour (lifting / moving up to 50lbs)
  • Strong hand eye coordination and spatial awareness
  • High attention to detail and extremely organized
  • Great communicator and ability to follow directions
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Consistently maintains a superior standard of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Lumber knowledge for order picking and yard organization
  • Mechanical experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and are an enthusiastic mindset that is focus on being a team player
