MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Direct and coordinate monthly financial reporting. This includes preparation of monthly Plant reporting book and commentary for distribution to both Plant Personnel and Senior Management, review of Account Analysis for the Toronto and UK locations, monitor transactions from Information Systems to the general ledger and making sure controls are in place to properly record company transactions. Provide accurate and timely information for the Annual Plan and provide information for the Canadian Tax Return.
  • Ensure that the Plant Management team understands and complies with agreed financial procedures and drive improvements to these systems and processes to enhance efficiency and control. This includes weekly reviews with the Plant Management team and monthly reviews with the Plant Manager to discuss key performance indicators and trends (i.e. efficiency, volume variance, expense analysis, cycle count accuracy, etc.).
  • Responsible for the management of day to day operations and performing variety of duties in support of the Business Unit Assistant Controller. This includes review of all Inventory cycle counts, review of cash disbursements, intercompany reconciliations and accrued liabilities for both Preparation of all Capital Appropriations, monitoring of spending to make sure it is kept within corporate policies, additions and disposals of fixed assets. Ensure standard costs for production are accurate and to update/add costing for existing/new items.
  • To maintain effective systems of financial control; to keep financial control procedures under review per the Sarbanes-Oxley narratives and alert the Business Unit Assistant Controller of any inadequacies.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff. This includes interviewing for open positions, on an ongoing basis direct team members, and ensures clarity of roles and key deliverables so as to make the best use of their skills and to maintain an efficient service to the organization. To agree and review work objectives for team members and to take responsibility for conducting reviews in a timely fashion. Also continuous crosstraining, review and redistribution of job responsibilities so that the monthend process continues to
  • Create and upload all payroll journal entries for hourly and salary Reconcile and analyze all payroll accounts and deductions. Monthly online filing of sales taxes. Reconcile the bank accounts.
Work on special projects as

  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees follow company GMP, sanitation, pre
- requisite programs, chemical control and food safety plans and policies.


  • Create the year end financial statements and report for the Toronto hourly pension
In the incumbent's absence these responsibilities will be transferred to the

Business Unit Assistant Controller.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including U.S./Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Must maintain professional accreditation at all times.

Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems including but not limited to ERP Systems and Fixed Asset Software.

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


Must be trained in and follow company policies on GMP, sanitation, pre-requisite programs, chemical control and food safety plans and policies.
