$29.15-$40.54


Qualifications:


  • Must meet all qualifications as outlined in the Regulations of the Ontario Ambulance Act, O. Reg.
257/00 PART III as well as future amendments including, but not limited to:
successful completion of a diploma in Paramedicine, A-EMCA certified by the Ministry of Health within 210 days.

  • Ability to achieve certification under FRO's controlled medical acts delegation program.
  • Possess physical abilities certificate from OPPAT, Ability Work, Sibley's, or equivalent issued within last eight months. OASIS card holders are exempt.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort required to treat and move patients, carry medical equipment, or sort inventory at health centre, station, and in ambulance.
  • Strong working knowledge of BLS Patient Care Standards, related Acts and Regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, allied agencies, and make decisions in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and exercise sound judgement in an emergency environment.
  • Ability to identify patient treatment needs through adequate assessment and provide appropriate care in accordance with the Basic Life Support Standards and base hospital certification.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, the public, client representatives, ambulance services, base and receiving hospitals in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Criminal Record check free of crimes of moral turpitude.
  • Must possess fully functional smartphone with active data plan.
  • May require the use of a personal or FRO vehicle on FRO business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, must hold and maintain a driver's licence that authorizes the person to drive an ambulance, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
Duties

Under the General Supervision of the Paramedic Superintendent, ability to independently:

  • Provide emergency medical care to staff and visitors of client's facility while ensuring the safe, timely, and appropriate transportation of ill or injured persons to onsite medical treatment facilities.
  • Perform emergency medical care and controlled acts under the direction of the Medical Director, and in accordance with the patient care standards and procedures set out by FRO, Ontario legislation, and Ministry of Health regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies in all weather conditions, in a safe and secure manner, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and the applicable policies and procedures.
  • Complete, in a timely manner, all required patient and administrative documentation specified in the Ambulance Act, Regulations, standards, company and client policies and practices, including Paramedic Call Report forms. Ensure safekeeping of patient records.
  • Provide a detailed patient report to appropriate medical staff (e.g. physician, nurse, etc.) at the receiving Facility.
  • Inspect all equipment at the start and throughout the shift to ensure they are in proper working order, and in a clean and sanitary condition. Carry out housekeeping duties within the medical centre and paramedic vehicles, ensuring the areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary condition.
  • Check and ensure vehicles and bags are stocked at all times with adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in mandatory training programs, including continuing medical education, quality assurance programs, and online company training programs, as required.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required.
