General Information on the Position

Regular - Supervisor, IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security**
The Position:The Supervisor, IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the L1"Service Desk" and L2 "Network and Systems Administrator" teams. The Supervisor, IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security works collaboratively in the development, maintenance and operation of the Society's Information Systems.


The Supervisor, IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security works designated hours with the understanding that flexibility may be required to meet the needs of clients and staff.

This may include evenings, weekends and on call duties.


Major Responsibilities

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripheral.
  • Responsible for providing supervision, leadership, and oversight of the daytoday operations and Performance of the L1 "Service Desk" and L2 "Network Systems Administrator" teams to ensure the effective delivery of Information Systems services in accordance with the Society's policies, procedures and strategic plan.
  • Track and analyze trends in Service Desk requests and performance of Service Desk activities to identify problems and devise deliverable solutions to enhance the quality of service.
  • Analyze existing operations and develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for the improvement and growth of the infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Work with internal stakeholders effectively in defining business and system requirements for new technology implementations
  • Act as a lead in IS operational planning and project management, overseeing reporting and documentation related to Operations and projects, including the appropriate allocation of internal IT resources as well as the negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Adheres to the Society's Terms of Reference of Employment and Collective Agreement as they pertain to assigned staff and ensures team members are working in a manner that supports their physical and psychological safety and in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and internal health and safety policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IS policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Make recommendations to the Manager, IS on financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
  • Approve purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the business, within the established budget framework.
  • Develop and enforce request handling and escalation policies and procedures

Conditions of work:


  • Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some overtime may be required on occasion. The physical office is located in the Ottawa area. CASO has a Hybrid work model.

Compensation:


  • Salary Level SU10 $86,023 to $112,62
  • Commensurate with training and experience.
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package and generous leave provisions, such as 4 weeks of vacation.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Computer Science or other related discipline.
  • Five years' experience in Computer Operations/Administration and Management in a medium to large IT department, operating more than one platform or environment. Within this experience, must have at least two years of Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies cloud, compute, storage, network and security including:
  • Office 365 (Exchange Online, teams, SharePoint)
  • Microsoft InTune
  • Microsoft Azure
  • VmWare cloud (vCloud director)
  • Fortinet platforms on the network side: fortigate, fortiswitches, forti Aps and Forti Analyzer, Forticlient for VPN dialup connections
  • For Mobile Device Management:
i. Apple Business Manager

ii. Microsoft Intune
