Major Purpose

The ERP Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing the planning, execution and implementation of a portfolio of subprojects aimed at successfully modernizing our ERP and HRIS systems. These projects include internal improvements, change management, and system implementation projects.

The ERP Senior Technical Project Manager will work closely with various departments and functional leads including our Finance Delivery team to support all internal work activities to prepare FCM to successfully build, develop, and launch a new ERP system. This role will support the Change Management activities to ensure robust stakeholder communication and successful implementation and adoption of new system tools and processes.

This position manages the Project Management deliverables of the ERP projects, including developing project documentation, creating and updating project plans in Asana, maintaining the Decisions Log, Risk Register, and Issues Log, managing status updates, and escalating issues and risks as they arise.

This position is essential for robust stakeholder management and ensuring smooth communications throughout the project lifecycle. This role will be pivotal in building and executing change management activities and will work to ensure smooth delivery of the new ERP systems and support the adoption of a new way of working within our Finance, Procurement and P&C teams. This position will work closely with the ERP Change Management Lead, including supporting each other in ensuring a collaborative implementation approach, including providing backup support for each other and covering deliverables and accountabilities where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for ERP portfolio including internal improvements, change management and implementation projects. This includes planning, executing, and closing projects, as well as managing scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder communications.
  • Client-Side Vendor Management: Act as the client-side project manager responsible for FCM deliverables. Work closely with the System Implementation Vendor's project manager to successfully build, develop, test, and deploy the new ERP solution.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Manage and update project documentation, tools, and processes including managing the Asana boards, managing decision logs, issue logs, risk registers, and escalating communication challenges.
  • Team Coordination: Provide project management level oversight to other project resources including functional delivery leads, supporting day-to-day project deliverables coordination at an overall level and a big picture perspective.
  • Consultant Management: Manage and oversee external consultants' tasks and priorities, monitor their work for follow-up on action items and deliverables, and answer and escalate external consultants' questions.
  • Business Process Improvement: Work with staff to improve business processes, adapting to upcoming change by updating policies and procedures, streamlining inefficiencies, and adopting industry standards for best practices.
  • Additional Support: Provide other project management technical support to project team members as required

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • 3-5 years' experience in Project Management Institute's Practices and Principles, experience managing large scale enterprise-wise systems implementation projects. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
  • 3-5 years' experience in implementing ERP systems, including Workday, NetSuite, and Finance IS systems. 3-5 years' experience in managing projects where ERP systems such as Workday and NetSuite have been implemented.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of Finance systems will be considered a major asset
  • Proven track record of successfully managing the end-to-end implementation process, from planning and development to deployment and post-implementation support.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with the software development lifecycle, including planning, executing, and closing projects. Ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder communications effectively.
  • Expertise in leading change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions during ERP implementations. Skilled in developing and executing change management plans, including communication strategies, training programs, and support mechanisms.
  • Experience in managing and updating project documentation, tools, and processes, including managing work breakdown structures and tasks in Asana, managing decision logs, risk registers, and escalating communication challenges.
  • Ability to provide project management level oversight to other project resources and functional delivery leads, supporting day-to-day project deliverables coordination at an overall level and a big picture perspective.
  • Ability to work with staff to improve business processes, adapting to upcoming changes by updating policies and procedures, streamlining inefficiencies, and adopting industry standards for best practices.
  • Experience with PMIS for task management including Asana.
