We are looking for an Equipment and Laboratory Coordinator to support the CEI new research facility in Mississauga.

You will be working in a team environment with researchers and technical experts in world-class facilities, while sharing our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


You will participate in a wide range of activities relating to laboratory start-up, operations, design, procurement, commissioning and operation of complex laboratory equipment, and supporting the organization safety programs.

Screening Criteria:


Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as chemistry, materials science, materials or chemical engineering.

An equivalent combination of experience and education (minimum of college degree) may be considered.

Experience:


  • Significant* experience of Occupational Health and Safety programs and legislations related to laboratory operations, particularly material science or chemistry.
  • Significant* experience with the installation, safe operation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Experience with the procurement of various laboratory equipment, apparatus and consumables.
  • Experience with the design, modification, setup, risk assessment and launch of new experimental setups or equipment.

Assets:


  • Recent experience in setting up new laboratory spaces, including developing and implementing standard operating procedures, and health and safety programs.

Note : Significant experience is defined by a minimum of 3 years' experience.

Reliability Status


Must have and retain the physical capacity to lift, move or carry heavy objects, crouch and bend, and work research laboratory environments handling various chemical classes and categories.

  • Ability to establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment according to workplace environmental, health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, train others, and develop specialized equipment and techniques related to one or more of the following: materials chemistry, characterization, mechatronics, smart materials, 3D printing, powders synthesis, design/fabrication, machining or prototyping.
  • Ability to coordinate operations of multiuser laboratory, including equipment upkeep, inventory management, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to identify, procure, and commission routine and complex laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to write reports,protocols, procedures, and proposals in English.
  • Knowledge of finance and procurement principles, policies and procedures would be considered an asset.

Compensation:

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum.
