PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Administer contracts, including safety orientation, field inspection and supervision of contract work on various projects for the assigned region
- Coordinate work activities with internal and external departments and customers to ensure safe, costeffective execution of projects and programmed maintenance work
- Accountable for utility infrastructure maintenance to ensure business continuity for the assigned region
- Design and Manage utility infrastructure projects on a day to day basis to ensure completion within schedule and budget
- Ensure any related environmental issues are dealt with according to company mandated policies and local codes, as they relate to projects
- Prepare budget requirements for multiyear planning
- Responsible for all gas, water, sanitary management projects in determining feasibility and project execution
- Oversee all assigned facilities construction project from conception to delivery
- Review each project indepth to schedule tasks, subcontractors, tools, equipment, and materials deliveries
- Review work progress on a daily basis, manage the costs and the behaviors of the site personnel under their charge
- Review the performance of contractors to verify that quality, cost and schedule objectives are maintained
- Prepare and review project cost estimates for appropriation of funds relating to facilities
- Negotiate with the construction manager, contractors, suppliers and consultants to ensure the Company derives maximum benefits from its expenditures
- Ensure that CPKC safety requirements are adhered to on all sites
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Facilities related designation. Preference will be given to mechanical or civil engineers with experience in railway facility management or commercial construction
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of various construction disciplines, project management processes and financial management, as well as relevant knowledge of codes, contract law and legislation related to project work
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Project, Excel, SAP, Revit and AutoCAD)
- Experience leading or considerably contributing to the preparation of RFP's, tenders and tender awards
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment; prioritizing multiple demands on time sensitive projects
- Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment
- Exceptional critical thinking skills

- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to communicate to all levels of management within the company

Management Conductor Program:
