    THE ORGANIZATION The Disability Screen Office (DSO) is a national, disability-led, bilingual, not-for-profit organization that works with the Canadian screen industry to eliminate accessibility barriers and foster authentic and meaningful disability representation on and off the screen.

    Our goals include advocating for people with disabilities by influencing policies and removing barriers, educating industry players by providing tools and programming, and creating awareness by fostering authentic representation of people with disabilities in the media.

    The DSO is thrilled to invite applications for the role of Director of Programs and Development.

    The selected candidate will support the organization in realizing its mission, by designing and executing DSO programs and fundraising initiatives in accordance with the organization's strategic plan and long-term vision to build a more equitable, accessible, and inclusive screen industry for persons with disabilities.

    Work closely with the Executive Director, the Chair of the Funding and Partnerships Committee, Committee members, and the Board of Directors in shaping the DSO's programs and initiatives.

    Lead the development and execution of programs aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion within the screen industry in line with the DSO's mission.

    Oversee program budgets and work with the Executive Director to implement and track expenses for activities.

    Manage and work closely with project advisory groups, committees and consultants, including sourcing members for advisory groups, committees, and consultants.

    Support the national and international activities of the Executive Director in relation to programs, communicating the needs of those activities to other stakeholders and coordinating materials as required.

    Communicate with creatives, talent, partners, contractors, service providers, vendors, venues, etc. around the planning, logistics, general needs of programs.
    Provide additional support to the Executive Director as required.

    DEVELOPMENT

    Collaborate with the Executive Director, the Chair of the Funding and Partnerships Committee, Committee Members, and the Board of Directors to create a fund development plan which increases revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization.

    Design, scale and manage fundraising and development activities to secure financial support for our initiatives.
    Cultivate relationships with industry professionals, disability advocates, and community partners.

    Working closely with the Executive Director and Chair of the Funding and Partnerships Committee, write grant and funding proposals, oversee and deploy annual fundraising activities, lead in the solicitation of in-kind fundraising opportunities, and oversee the DSO stakeholder database.

    Build relationships with the organization's external stakeholders including government officials, policy makers, broadcasters, funding bodies, industry talent and creatives, festivals, program beneficiaries to raise the organization's profile.

    Support DSO annual and strategic planning.
