- The cleaner is responsible for performing cleaning, janitorial services and basic maintenance tasks of the properties under the direction and control of Neeginan Centre Inc.
- The cleaner will ensure that the established cleaning schedules are followed according to the cleaning standards in a safe and efficient manner.
- Evening shift work is required.
- Sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing, vacuuming in office spaces, washrooms and public areas
- Empty trash receptacles and garbage containers
- Maintain a clean and organized janitorial room
- Replenish supplies in the janitor rooms and public spaces
- Wash windows and glass surfaces
- Clean elevators and door tracks
- Change light bulbs – if safe to do so
- Strip, clean, buff and wax hard floor surfaces
- Wash walls, bathroom stalls and other soiled surfaces
- Snow clearing and other outdoor cleaning duties
- Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
- Maintain building security – locking doors and setting alarms as needed
- Assist in the set-up of the building for meetings and special events
- Other duties as assigned
- Academic: Grade 12 or equivalent level of education and experience, able to read, write and understand written and verbal communications in English
- 1 year of experience in a similar role with a sound knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment and job performance standards
- Clear criminal record check and child abuse registry check is required
- Safe use of floor polishers, automated floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet cleaners
- WHMIS training or willing to train
- First Aid/CPR or willing to train
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), proper use and care
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, punctual
- Proven teamwork skills
- Able to understand and follow safety procedures
- Able to understand and follow established schedules and standards for cleaning efficiently
- Knowledge of cleaning supplies; effectiveness, safe use and storage
- Able to lift 50 lbs (22kg) – moderate physical effort
- Minor exposure to dirt, dust, fumes
- Able to stand, crouch, kneel for extended periods
- Able to regularly use stairs in a multi-storey building
- Close attention to detail
