_ Purpose and General Description:
_


Every year, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) hires interns to assist with various aspects of delivering its conservation program, while gaining valuable skills in the conservation sector.

In 2024, the Nature Conservancy of Canada will be hiring one communications intern to work for the Quebec.


The communications intern will assist both the communications and fundraising teams with a wide variety of content development, outreach, research, and promotional activities.

Working independently and with NCC staff, the intern will help to develop regional content for NCC's digital and print publications, promote NCC's regional activities in communities across Quebec, contribute to both virtual and in-person event coordination, and assist with the creation of materials intended for donors.

The intern will also assist with the organization of digital assets.


_ Duties and Responsibilities:
_


  • Writing and layout of various communications tools to offer visibility to the Nature Conservancy of Canada and recognition to donors: press releases, newsletters, presentation documents, panels, videos;
  • Plan, identify, develop and deploy new content to be produced on social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter);
  • Create short videos for use on the Web and social media (possibility of going into the

  • Help coordinate, plan and promote events;
  • Assist the communications team with daytoday activities, as required

_ Required Skills and Attributes:
_

This posting is targeted to individuals possessing the following skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including confidence with journalistic-style interviewing techniques.
  • Strong writing skills, with a particular aptitude for identifying and telling great stories.
  • Experience editing, proofreading, and factchecking.
  • Appreciation for nature, ecology, wildlife, habitat conservation and/or the great outdoors.
  • Organized, attention to detail.
  • Has an interest/experience in public engagement and communicating environmental topics.
  • Selfstarting, proactive and capable of working both independently and in a team setting.

_ Terms of Employment:
_


  • 3 to 5 days a week
  • Compensation: $20.00/hour.
  • Position is based out of the Montreal office.
  • The position may require occasional weekend and evening work.
