Career Services

The mission of Western Engineering Career Services is to provide the best student experience by offering experiential learning opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students and a seamless transition from student life to employment.

The key goals of Career Services are to provide students with experiential learning opportunities during their undergraduate education by offering degree related to work placement opportunities; to identify new and enhance current employment partnerships with industry to better promote student recruitment initiatives (internship, co-op, new graduate) to increase enrolment and placements; and to provide undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni with the necessary skills to transition to the workplace.


Responsibilities:


This role is expected to be filled by re-appointment

Accountabilities:


  • Provide Career Counselling and Support to students including, resume writing, cover letter and interview
support.- Manage and support information sessions, workshops, lectures to support co-op opportunities for

undergraduate and graduate students.- Coordinate and deliver career training modules/workshops and support special projects in collaboration

with various stakeholders including the Career Services team.
Qualifications

Education:


  • Undergraduate Degree, in Business Management/Administration preferred

Experience:


  • 1 year of administrative experience in an office environment

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:


  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Familiarity with financial records management
  • Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices
  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
  • Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
  • Ability to foster collaboration and respect among team members
  • Communication skills with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a professional and timely manner
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to create a positive impression while interacting with others and responding to inquiries, by telephone, in person or electronically
  • Resultsoriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performance
