Overview:


The Ontario Energy Board is currently seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team as a Strategic Policy Co-op Student.

In this role, the Co-op Student will provide support to Senior Advisors and Advisors on strategic initiatives related to innovation, electric vehicles and energy transition.

The work of the Co-op Student will include research and analysis, project management support, assisting with drafting written materials such as briefing notes and presentations, and supporting stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:


  • Monitor the energy sector in Ontario and other jurisdictions to ensure awareness of key policy developments
  • Research and analyze issues relating to innovation, new technologies, energy transition, decarbonization and the evolving energy landscape
  • Assist in the development of policy recommendations by conducting research, preparing, and analyzing data
  • Assist in the development of workplans to support the work of internal multistakeholder teams
  • Support stakeholder consultations, meetings, and working groups to gather emerging trend information and identify issues
  • Record and consolidate stakeholder feedback for use in the development of policy options and recommendations
  • Work with Public Affairs to develop and maintain stakeholder engagement platforms and communication materials related to Strategic Policy initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • Enrolled in a graduate program specializing in Economics, Public Policy, Commerce or related discipline and registered in a coop program
  • Demonstrated coursework related to the energy sector
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment where different opinions and perspectives have to be managed, negotiated and resolved diplomatically
  • Ability to create visually appealing presentations to convey technical information
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Curiosity and initiative, with a strong interest in the energy sector
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
