    Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY
    The Mechanical Engineer initiates engineering design, development and problem solving of equipment, manufacturing, and supporting processes.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops creative and practical designs that meet expectations.
  • Initiates application of engineering principles and process understanding.
  • Leads and coordinates the integration/validation of assigned components/assemblies.
  • Initiates, defines, and develops new design concepts.
  • Directs the modeling of components/assemblies for machine segments or modules, meeting specifications.
  • Specifies, selects, and integrates vendor components.
  • Initiates and produces designs that are manufacturable, demonstrates an appreciation for operations and maintenance, and meets safety standards.
  • Initiates, presents, and participates in review of designs.
  • Completes assigned work within an established schedule.
  • Initiates and coordinates completion of design documentation with minimal errors, including part and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, specification sheets, Modification kits, and project files.
  • Understands roles of other functions and provides project support as appropriate.
  • Initiates and participates in team processes and contributes to team objectives.
  • Communicates fully with supervisor, project lead, and others that have a need to know in a timely, effective manner.
  • Abides by corporate policies and quality system procedures.
  • Carries out job responsibilities in a safe manner and contributes to safety and wellbeing of self and others.
  • Estimates engineering project resources, dollars, and man-hours.
  • Trains less experienced personnel in established methods and facilitates transfer of technical knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated competency in design and use of engineering tools.
  • Exhibits willingness and ability to increase knowledge through continuous education.
  • Familiar with:Engineering codes and standards such as OSHA/CCOHS, ANSI/CSA, and EC standardsCurrent industry/trade knowledge and commercial equipment availabilityEngineering economicsMaterials and fabrications
  • EXPERIENCE:
  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Machine Design experience a plus, but not required.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl and move about facility and/or customer's facilities.
  • Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
