Contracted Services and Terms of Performance:

  • The Contractor agrees to perform the Services outlined in the attached Appendix A in a timely fashion, with specific timelines and targets as agreed between the
Contractor and the JBNA Board members.


  • In performing the Services, the Contractor will liase with and work under the direction of the JBNA Board and such other persons as the JBNA Board may authorize and approve.
  • The Contractor acknowledges that to perform the Services they may on occasion be required to attend Board and Committee meetings, JBNA community events, and/or other activities on evenings and/or weekends. (Board meetings are typcially held on the first and third Monday of the month, at 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.)
  • The Contractor will, at least for part of the contracted time, work out of their home and will provide their own cell phone and computer.
  • In carrying out the Services and engaging with JBNA members, potential members and all other individuals and organizations, the Contractor will represent themself as the JBNA Neighbourhood Engagement Coordinator.

Compensation:


  • The JBNA will pay the Contractor for the Services at the rate of $30 per hour
(inclusive of GST if applicable), to a maximum of 80 hours in any four-week period.


  • The Contractor is an independent contractor and acknowledges there is no intent or desire to create an employer/employee relationship.
  • The Contractor acknowledges they are responsible to pay any and all required taxes, fees, insurance, other payments, and/or disclosures as required by law for an independent contractor.

Term:


  • The Contract will start on February 1, 2024 and end on June 28, 2024.
  • The Contract may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties.
  • Either party may terminate the Contract on fourteen (14) days written notice to the other party.

Intellectual Property and Confidentiality:


  • All reports, plans, proposals, maps, data, surveys, and any other documents or publications prepared by the Contractor to fulfill the Services, or to which the


Contractor has been given access as a result of this Contract, shall be and remain the exclusive property of the JBNA and shall be delivered or returned to the JBNA at the termination of the Contract.


  • The Contractor acknowledges certain information that may be provided to or obtained by the Contractor may be sensitive and confidential and agrees to retain that confidentiality both during and after the term of the Contract.

Assignment:


1. The Contractor cannot transfer or assign any the Contractor's obligations under this

Contract without prior written consent of the JBNA Board.

Appendix A

Contract Services and Deliverables
The Contractor will be responsible to support JBNA activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Creating opportunities to increase community connectedness, and resilience within the James Bay neighbourhood.
  • Identifying and nurturing opportunities for residents to participate and engage in activities to support the livability and social and physical environment of the James
Bay neighbourhood.

  • Fostering connections and partnerships among residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations and others interested in improving the James Bay neighbourhood.

Primary Deliverables

Community action, outreach and engagement

  • The Engagement Coordinator will build relationships with James Bay residents to facilitate involvement that contributes to James Bay being a neighbourhood where all residents are welcome.
  • Identify and connect with James Bay residents who do not participate in JBNA


General Meetings and who may not be aware of the role of the JBNA in order to hear their views and concerns about the neighbourhood.

In particular, connect with renters, parents of children attending James Bay Elementary School, First Nations residents, and other residents who may be residing in not-for-profit housing.


  • Identify how to engage residents on an ongoing basis to ensure residents have opportunities to be heard on matters of importance as identified by the Board.
  • Assist the JBNA Board and Board in identifying and prioritizing key objectives and outcomes to create or enhance the connectedness and resilience within and amongst residents of the James Bay neighbourhood.
  • Develop action plans to achieve the identified JBNA priority objectives and outcomes, undertake the necessary actions to support the JBNA to achieve those objectives and outcomes, including creating and leading projects, events and other activities of interest to the community.
  • Develop JBNA partnerships with various nonprofit and other organizations that operate in and/or deliver services in the neighbourhood, to coordinate activities and undertakings of common interest
