Temporary Part-Time Screening Officer:

(anticipated for a period of up to six (6) months)

What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Manager of Transportation and Parking Services, and under the direction of the Parking Services Supervisor, the Screening Officer
- determines appropriate resolutions;
- educates and informs defendants about the Traffic By-law sections and any relevant Town Policies and Programs regarding parking;
- assists the public in filling out a 'Notice of Intention" to appear to challenge the ticket at the Provincial Offences Act Court (POA);
- updates the status of the ticket and provides background on the outcome of the ticket review;
- assists the Supervisor with the collection of data and statistics for analysis; and,
- other duties as may be assigned.

Using your knowledge and experience in the field allows you to navigate through difficult interpersonal situations in a positive manner.

You demonstrate adeptness in conflict resolution and approach applicable situations with the goals to improve communication, diffuse tension and resolve problems.

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant you will possess:

  • post-secondary diploma/degree in Law and Security, Police Foundation, Social Work, or equivalent;
  • Mediation Training (or willing to obtain);
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution Training (or willing to obtain);
- the ability to interpret, and convey to the public, technical information, Town policies, court documents, evidence and the POA court system; and
