As a Truck and Heavy Equipment Technician, You Will:

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times in support of Miller/MSO's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures in order to make repairs per the manufacturer's specifications
  • Maintain and service a fleet of trucks, pavement preservation and heavy construction equipment
  • Able to perform services on electrical, hydraulic, power train, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment
  • Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with machine to identify fault codes
  • Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced, or apprentice maintenance personnel
  • Utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes
  • Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Maintain excellent customer relations
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment
  • Annual PMCVI Inspection for trucks

What You'll Bring:


  • Must possess, and keep valid their applicable licenses including a valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician's License
  • Roadside service experience an asset
  • First Aid certificate is an asset
  • Previous experience working with Heavy/Paving Equipment an asset
  • You will have the ability to diagnose and rectify faults
  • Experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Valid G Driver's Licence
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Available to work extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Comprehend and follow written and spoken directions and work in a safe & efficient manner
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal in the English language
  • Physical ability and mobility to work in a shop and commercial yard environment; carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles
