    About the work environment:

    Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start & end times.

    About you :

    You are a regulatory subject matter expert within financial institutions. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and deliverables. You have a keen eye for detail and love using your technical accounting knowledge to dive into a challenge. You enjoy collaborating with all members of a regulatory team to meet the company's regulatory deadlines and deliverables. You are driven by process improvement and strive to improve upon current systems processes. Ensures the company is in compliance with all regulatory requirements and support business segments in optimizing current and future compliance matters.

    About you / qualifications:

  • Professional designation such as CPA or CFA, or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum 5 years progressive accounting or regulatory experience in a relevant role, preferably within a financial institution
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting and/or tax guidelines, principles and theories, including IFRS
  • Familiarity with banking regulators and related agencies, including OSFI, CDIC & DBRS preferred
  • Strong proficiency with Word & Outlook;
  • Advanced level of Excel, and ability to work with data using tools including SQL and XML
  • Business writing experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good judgement and demonstrated sound decision making skills, highly motivated and has a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Adaptable, flexible, innovative and responsive to change
  • Ability to grasp business concepts in a dynamic, fast paced and multi-entity environment
  • About the day-to-day:

  • Review and monitor regulatory existing and new guidelines to ensure full compliance
  • Present and educate senior management, business segments and other members of the regulatory team on existing and upcoming regulatory metrics that affects the company's capital and liquidity constraints.
  • Evaluate, develop and automate current processes for various Provincial and Federal regulatory returns and reports, including OSFI, CDIC, BCFSA, AMF and other authorities
  • Preparing complex regulatory financial returns
  • Data extraction, collation and analysis
  • Reporting on GHG or climate change and becoming a leader in that knowledge area
  • Proactively provide guidance and support to the business segments to forecast regulatory metrics and optimize on product mix alternatives impacted by the evolving regulatory environment
  • Complete special projects, such as develop automated templates to streamline work and supporting software implementation and changes
  • Support other members of the Regulatory Reporting team to manage high work volume and provide back up in their absence
  • Annual Compensation:

    Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary and discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $75,000 and $85,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities & experience that the chosen candidate possess.
