GIS TECHNICIAN, ASSET MANAGEMENT
The incumbent is responsible for the development/implementation and maintenance of the
Engineering Services Asset Management Database using ESRI software (ArcGIS) as part of a
Geographical Information System (GIS). This includes data collection, system analysis; coordination
with other agencies, and project management to effectively inventory, implement, and promote the
Department's GIS efforts. Other duties include supporting the engineering design team using
Autodesk (AutoCad) software as required._ _
Successful applicants will possess the following:
- Post-secondary diploma in Engineering or a related field. A specialized certificate in Geospatial
asset.
- Eligible for membership for the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and
- One year diversified and progressively more responsible relevant work experience preferably in a
- Advanced working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems such as ArcGIS (ESRI) and
- Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) such as AutoCAD (Autodesk). Good working knowledge of
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize project scheduling and time management.
- Proven ability to collect and organize data both inside the office (using existing City records) and
geo-databases.
- Demonstrated ability to keep neat, accurate records and read and write in English.
- Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, and the community,
- Proven ability to prepare accurate, concise and descriptive statistical charts, written reports,
- Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
- During employment there may be the requirement to drive a municipal vehicle, as such consent to
Class "G" Ontario Drivers licence. A clean driving record is preferred.
Compensation includes the ability to work a hybrid remote schedule, a comprehensive benefits
package, pension plan, and a salary starting at $38.80/hr. - $43.11/hr. based on 35 hours per
week.
