Your Role:

We are currently seeking a

Responsibilities:

Project Initiation and Planning

  • Becomes completely familiar with all project contractual documents.
  • Selects and uses, based on complexity, appropriate project management tools and techniques to accomplish the project goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and organizes project team and assigns tasks towards project execution.
  • Initiate projects including obtaining authorization and commitment, demonstrating business need and project feasibility.
  • Develops and manages master project plans that coordinate individual work tasks, schedules, and preliminary project budgets.
  • Assembles and leads meetings with project team members to communicate project scope.
  • Organizes project teams according to project requirements.
  • Leads project teams to identify timeframe, budget limits, methods for accomplishing the project, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
  • Identifies specific tools or equipment needed by the project team.
  • Obtains needed resources at the proper project phase.
  • Obtains bids from subcontractors and coordinates project cost estimates.
  • Prepares and monitors project budgets in accordance with our standard formats that summarize total expected costs and develops methods to track budget expenditures.
  • Establishes with clients and team members appropriate procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan.
  • Reviews plans and procedures periodically to institute changes as necessary.
  • Develop a health and safety plan for the project and ensure that health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Identifies project risks and prioritize risks that are likely to affect the project outcome and designs strategies to manage and mitigate those risks.

Project Execution, Control and Closure:


  • Leads and directs the activities of project teams to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget and with the desired quality.
  • Monitors and controls progress of work assignments; coordinates project changes; and updates project schedules and budgets as necessary.
  • Develops consensus on project schedules and informs project team members of progress and potential schedule slippages.
  • Analyzes budget reports to track project expenses and identify excessive expenditures. Acts to correct them.
  • Examines costs or expenditures and compares to original budget.
  • Manages vendor contracts; monitors and approves contractor performance.
  • Manages risks and responds to changes in risk over the course of the project.
  • Evaluates project performance and deliverables to make certain project results meet the intended goal and objectives and satisfy quality standards.
  • Makes changes to project plan in response to unforeseen changes or results.
  • Monitors, tracks and controls project budget, schedule, and performance with support from Project Services.
  • Manages the project finances on behalf of Tetra Tech.
  • Identifies ways to improve project outcomes.
  • Delivers planned profit for the project.
  • Meets or exceeds project metrics approved by management for the fiscal year.
  • Executes project in compliance with Tetra Tech PM/QMS procedures as identified in the Project Life Cycle.

Project Communication:


  • Strong client management skills required to address challenging client requirements and ensuring client satisfaction while still delivering on the project objectives of both Tetra Tech and the client.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with those involved in the project externally (with the client) and with key stakeholders (internally with the project team).
  • Leads project team meetings and discussions.
  • Resolves conflicts between team members.
  • Coaches team members on project methodology and processes.
  • Keeps internal project team fully informed usually by regular project meetings complete with meeting minutes. Keeps client informed with regular meetings or method preferred by the client.
  • Develops and maintains project master files documenting progress throughout the course of the project and prepares final project archive files at close of project.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng) and/or PMP certification
  • 610 years experience in project management experience that includes leading and managing large multidiscipline projects, or large single discipline projects, and the execution of two (2) to five (5) multidiscipline/office projects.
  • Knowledge and experience executing Engineering Change Control (ECC) process associated with design engineering
