Lead Carpenter Job Description
Coastal Mountain Custom Homes Ltd (CMC Homes) is a custom home and renovation company based out of Whistler, BC. We have been in operation since 2010 and have a well established growing business. Or projects range from renovations and major additions to custom homes.

We are expand our team and are looking to hire one lead carpenter to help with our busy schedule in Whistler.


Job Requirements

  • Interprovincial Ticket


  • Education

  • High School Graduate
  • Post Secondary not necessary but an asset

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years in all phases of residential construction.
  • 5 Years of Supervisory / Lead experience within the surrounding Whistler area.

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of residential construction, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety practices and procedures as defined by Worksafe BC Knowledge of up to date BC Building Codes
  • Knowledge of the Step Code and Energy Efficient building techniques required to meet the Step Code requirements
  • Proficient at blueprint reading
  • Able to do layout, framing, finishing of both the interior and exterior, including new homes, additions, and renovations
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to employees, and others.
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material take offs and basic estimates.
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to interpret job cost reports.

Interpersonal and Communications Skills

  • Must be able to communicate in a clear and polite manner with clients, subtrades, and fellow staff members.
  • Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions, and answer questions about construction processes to clients, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.

Organizational Skills

  • Able to organize progress of multiple employees and trade contractors on a single jobsite.
  • Able to quickly identify potential schedule conflicts and generate and implement needed modifications.
  • Able to complete and fulfill necessary work required for purchase orders, ordering of materials, and timesheets.
  • Perform quality checks regularly
  • Daily Logs in online software
  • Submit all acquired invoices weekly to the office
  • Provide daily updates to the Project Manager

Problem Solving

  • Job requires that alternative solutions are quickly generated to resolve scheduling conflicts, project delays, and design modifications.

Working Conditions

  • 99% of time is spent working at job sites. Substantial driving is required.
  • Must supply own personal tools and be responsible for and maintain company tools.

Physical

  • Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project.
  • Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials.
  • Must be physically fit.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Commute in company vehicles and get 1 hour commuting time paid for
  • Extended Medical Benefit Package available
  • Compensation based on experience ranging from $45 to $55/hr
  • Flexible time off and 20cm Rule for powder days
