Role:
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the role of the Metrology Technician is to carry out inspection mandates on parts produced by machining or by plastic injection, using a measuring device or conventional measuring tools and to produce detailed inspection reports.
- Perform various geometric and dimensional measurements and inspections of parts using a CMM machine (Zeiss-Mitutoyo) and conventional tools (calipers, vernier calipers, trusquin calipers...).
- Create CMM programs (Calypso and Polyworks) to measure parts, assemblies or equipment according to drawings and theoretical 3D models.
- Participate in inspections and verifications during the startup of new equipment (sets up).
- Analyze the data obtained and determine if the parts meet the requirements (drawings).
- Create inspection reports and/or calibration certificates.
- Write and distribute nonconformity reports.
- Perform roughness and topography measurements of parts using a laser microscope.
- Perform repeatability reproducibility (R&R) and capability studies (Cp, Cpk,...).
- Verify the state of calibration of measuring instruments (CMM or conventional tools) and control gauges.
- Participate in the resolution of technical problems and the purchase of new measuring instruments.
- All other related tasks in metrology.
Profile:
- A DEC in mechanical engineering or engineering physics.
- Bilingualism (French and English), both oral and written, is essential.
- Have 3 to 5 years experience in metrology and dimensional and geometric inspection.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and ASME Y14.5 or Iso 1101 standards.
- Knowledge of roughness measurement.
- Basic knowledge of mathematics.
- Knowledge and experience with CAD-Calypso software.
- Proficiency with computer tools (Microsoft Office 365, Matlab, Metrologe, Catia, and Polyworks).
- Experience with CMM and conventional measurement instruments.
- Knowledge of the IATF 16949 standard (an asset).
