    Description

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    Our client, a major mining company is looking for a Maintenance Planner. In this position, you will plan, schedule, and assist in the coordination of short to medium term maintenance for all mobile equipment on-site. Plan to standard or Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications to ensure the equipment fleet achieves maximum availability in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform planning and support functions necessary to maintain major surface mining equipment.
    • Schedule, monitor and coordinate mining equipment repairs using a computerized maintenance management system.
    • Verify, order, and expedite required materials and supplies in conjunction with scheduled equipment repairs, coordinating vendors, assisting with preparation of capital justifications and expense budgets.
    • Coordinate with production and maintenance leadership to develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule that allows for increased equipment availability and efficient repairs.
    • Produce, review and maintain rolling monthly, quarterly and annual plans as well as equipment specifications, tires and undercarriage tracking files.
    • Maintain currency and accuracy of equipment maintenance history, work orders, job records database and technical information on processes, plant and equipment.
    • Develop weekly agreed maintenance plans using equipment strategies to facilitate maximum production while minimizing downtime and costs to meet plant availability and reliability targets.
    • Ensure that work planned is completed within allowed budget and resources by cost effective use of subcontractors to maintain and service mobile plant and ancillary equipment.
    • Identify project-based opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs to increase effectiveness and efficiency by eliminating repetitive, costly, or low-value work.
    • Review and report on planning and scheduling, equipment reliability and maintenance department performance.
    • Assist in the implementation and compliance of the Safety Health and Environmental Plans to ensure safe and sustainable mobile plant and ancillary equipment.
    • Liaise with all internal/external stakeholders to enhance coordination between the Maintenance, and Mining departments and minimize interruptions to operations by maintaining strong working relationships with relevant personnel.
    • Communicate detailed maintenance plans for scheduled maintenance to Maintenance, Mining and Technical Services departments on a weekly basis.
    • Coordinate with the offsite maintenance planners to ensure best for business outcomes are achieved.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Familiar with Office 365, including strong Excel skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada.
    • A highly organized, motivated, self-starter, who can work with minimal supervision and put an emphasize on safety in the workplace.
    • Knowledge of practices, performance, measures, scheduling tools, and techniques.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a high performing, multi-disciplined, diverse team
    • 3-6 years in equipment planning, mining maintenance activities and/or equivalent industrial experience.
    • Prior experience with planning using a CMMS.
    • Common core and supervisor training would be considered an asset.
    • Experience in mobile equipment maintenance, preferably in an open cut environment
    • Must be fluent in the English language.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Able to live and work at high altitudes (12,000 ft. elevation) for a week at a time.
    • Able to work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders.
    • Able to work for extended 12-hour shifts.
    • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)
    • Quick response/reaction times
    • Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity.

    EDUCATION

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Trade Certificate or Engineering qualification preferred.
