Giant Tiger is seeking a summer 2023 HR Intern from the Human Resource Management Program


This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is seeking to gain professional experience while pursuing a Human Resources degree with an interest in Total Rewards or Compensation.

As the HR Intern, you will work closely with the Total Rewards Team to support the administration of employee programs for all Giant Tiger employees, and you have the chance to develop transferable skills and experience for your resume at a top Canadian retailer Your responsibilities will include running monthly reports on compensation, making corrections and coordinating with HR stakeholders and people managers as required, and supporting with the annual cost-of-living exercise as well as various administrative duties.


HR Intern, Role Highlights:

Pull and review data reports regularly from our Human Resource Information System (Workday) to verify for compensation errors
Monitor employee's compensation to ensure they are following provincial guidelines
Assist with the Total Compensation Statement creation for corporate employees
Assist with validating store bonus eligibility across Giant Tiger's store (over 260 and counting)
Assist with the issuance of retirement savings grants for corporate employees
Run monthly reports for services anniversaries and retirements for employees in corporate, stores, and distribution centers and produce a list for the monthly newsletter
Support as necessary with the recognition program transition

Currently enrolled in a Human Resources or General Business Administration program
Experience with Excel and reporting is an asset
Curiosity to learn about HR programs and processes
Excellent time-management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization
Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
Interest or experience in compensation, recognition, or total rewards programs
