In addition to specializing in payroll, pension and benefits administration, we provide expert HR advice and support in the areas of Employee & Labour Relations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and Professional Development.


Your opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Director, Human Resources, and utilizing an awareness of issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, the incumbent provides full cycle recruitment activities for a range of unionized positions and non-unionized administrative positions for the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

Typical responsibilities will also include ensuring compliance with the hiring provisions of applicable collective agreements and employment policies; leading the development and implementation of effective talent acquisition strategy, playing a key role in the on-boarding of new staff, and collaborating with others on succession planning efforts within client departments.


The Talent Acquisition and HR Advisor will also take on new tasks or projects, assume responsibility for on-going projects and undertake research on a wide variety of issues and topics related to administrative human resources at
OISE.

The responsibilities of the incumbent will continuously evolve and they should be flexible and willing to respond to the given priorities of the day and be willing to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a dynamic environment.


This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.


Essential Qualifications:


Education:


  • University degree in a relevant field of study; completion of (or working towards) Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRP).

Experience:


  • Three years' experience managing fullcycle recruitment in a unionized environment;
  • Experience writing clear and compelling job postings and effective interview questions;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, applicant tracking systems and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly grasp requirements of collective agreements and recruitment policies and practices of the University of Toronto

Technical and Professional Skills:


  • Excellent client service orientation and demonstrated initiative, tact, diplomacy and discretion;
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
  • Skilled at providing valueadded strategic advice aligned with employment legislation and internal policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both in a consultative team environment and independently;
  • Political acumen and ability to interact with senior managers and academic administrators in a manner that facilitates cooperation and achieves consensus;
  • Professional and polished presenter, with excellent oral, written communication and active listening skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills and the ability to deliver high quality work while managing competing deadlines;
  • Ability to manage competing demands, accept feedback, and be adaptable and flexible; Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Assets:


  • Experience working with human resource information systems (HRIS)
