Copernicus Studios is looking for the next great crew members to join our Team


In the past year we have expanded our remote workforce across Canada and are looking for Background Layout Artists to be based in Nova Scotia or Ontario.


What You Will Be Doing:


  • Use key Background designs as reference to draw all rough layouts for assigned sequences
  • Extrapolate from storyboards to determine the angle, fielding and perspective of assigned shots
  • Reference model sheets in order to produce drawings that are consistent and on style
  • Plot camera moves and provide clear technical instructions
  • Incorporation of all notes from the Background Supervisor, while working collaboratively with other animators under a strict schedule

What We Need From You:


  • Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or technical training coupled with experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop
  • Experience in Background Art for television, film and/or a portfolio displaying the required skills
  • Impeccable understanding of composition, perspective, and scenic design
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requirements:

Applicants must be currently eligible to work in Canada i.e. Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or eligible Work Permit
