Hourly Wage:
$28.50 p/h -Benefitted after probationary period


Shifts:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 10pm -6am.

Contracted 32 hours/week, with possibility to work up to 40 hours/week.

This is a 24/7 operation and flexibility may be required at times.


Charlotte's Place Night Team Lead oversees the Women's Shelter during the evening shifts and is instrumental in the operation of the shelter.

Working closely with the overnight team, they are responsible for making client-centered decisions in a fast-paced crisis environment. They will work from a feminist and trauma-informed lens while working with clients, staff, and the community.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Night Team Lead provides leadership, support, and supervision to the staff and looks for ways to share staff between programs in a holistic approach for the Society.


Leadership:


  • Holds and supports the evolution of the vision for CWAV Society over time.
  • Promotes a leadership practice that reflects feminist principles that include values of:

  • Establishes and maintains a strong teambased approach with thestaff. Develops and motivates staff to attain program service responsibilities. Builds an engaged and employeecentric culture.
  • Understands antiracism practices and builds inclusion and embraces diversity.
  • Understands and incorporates trauma informed practices.
  • In collaboration with Supervisor, participates in internal HR strategic planning including selection, assignment, mentoring and orientation. Will assist to identify and promote the ongoing learning opportunities at STH, including staff development needs, collaboration opportunities, and growth plan/supervision process.
  • Oversees and supports needed training.
  • Community engagement and awareness. Partners and networks with other agencies and community stakeholders as required.
  • Is a goto amongst staff for all complex client and/or staff situations.
  • Able to work in the moment and make difficult judgement calls to ensure safety and uphold program expectations.

Program Operations & Planning

  • Ensures proper administration of all record keeping and service delivery obligations of the programs.
  • Assigns and delegates work effectively.

Client Services:


  • The Night Team Lead, contributes to the achievement of highquality client services delivered through: implementing traumainformed best practices, and building strong relationships within the CWAV community and other agencies within the broader community.
  • Offer direct services to clients including general information resource work, intake referral, crisis intervention, crisis and individual counselling, support, advocacy and accompaniment services, assist with facilitation of meetings among residents to maintain cooperative living environment and assist residents to coordinate their contributions to a cooperative living environment.
  • Assist program staff with information, referrals, and debriefing as necessary.

Professional and Legal:


  • Adheres to the constitution, philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Society's legal and contractual obligations.
  • Participates in personal professional development through activities such as workshops, conferences, and training.

Qualifications:


The Cowichan Women's Shelter Team Lead must:

  • Have 2+ years demonstrated experience working in a relevant field.
  • Able to work night/weekend shifts
  • Proven experience in working with women with addictions, mental health/ addictions and homelessness challenges.
  • Ability to articulate a philosophy of harm reduction, traumainformed care and an understanding of the issues of poverty.
  • Work from a feminist perspective
  • Commitment to and practice of antioppression.
  • Strong connections in the community for referral sources for women.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) will be considered an asset.
  • Have experience in nonprofit society and women's organization environments.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have proven ability to work cooperatively with other team members.
  • Be personable, flexible, and selfdirected.

Other:


  • May be directed to work on other projects as needed.
