Position Summary


Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Procurement Manager is responsible for procurement activities related to the sourcing, negotiation and implementation of Engineering, Procurement and Construction agreements for the development of utility-scale renewable energy sites across North America as well as the sourcing of major equipment and the and negotiation of Long-Term Services Agreements required for the operation and maintenance of these sites.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Business Development team on utilityscale solar development and repower projects across North America
  • Liaise with the Technical team to obtain and verify technical specifications
  • Prepare all commercial bid documents including contractual terms and conditions with support from Legal Counsel
  • Develop bid evaluation matrix with support from the technical team
  • Manage the entire bid process by:
  • Leading RFP kickoff meeting with all relevant stakeholders
  • Managing and maintaining the integrity of the bid process
  • Coordinating technical evaluations and conducting commercial evaluations including normalization of all compliant proposals
  • Preparing a final vendor recommendation for senior management
  • Reviewing all comments and exceptions taken to the proposed form of agreement and working with Legal Counsel to negotiate a final agreement
  • Develop strong relationships with a network of EPC Contractors across North America
  • Stay current with market requirements, resources, pricing and trends.

Requirements:


  • 710 years Procurement experience, with 5+ years of experience in Renewable Energy with a focus on utilityscale development projects
  • Deep working knowledge of the renewable energy market and vendor landscape, pricing, terms and trends, preferably in solar or wind
  • Experience with negotiating Long Term Services Agreements for utilityscale projects
  • Possesses a strong understanding of procurement contracts
  • Knowledge of payment security methods such as project bonding
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Understanding of US ITC and PTC credits would be considered an asset
  • Sound knowledge with respect to performance and risk mitigation mechanisms
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with recognized procurement practices and corporate governance principals
  • Strong understanding of the commercial and technical needs of the Renewable Energy business
  • Able to effectively and professionally interact with remote business staff and vendor/contractor personnel
  • Positive, proactive approach to enhancing procurement methods and company practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
